Job(s)!

SO I finally got the job situation lined out for the summer! I'll be working for a Tulsa firm for the first half (beginning of June to mid-July) and then a foundation here in Boston for the second half! I'm so excited to have it finally figured out! :) We're just lacking nailing down dates and housing, and then we're final! :)

Because of Emily

Since she suggested it, here it goes...

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4. What does it say?
"...expense of $200,000, as indicated along with its probability of 50%..."- from Analytical Methods... exciting!

2. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What can you touch?
My backpack. And the edge of the table (I'm in Langdell...)

3. What is the last thing you watched on TV?
Umm... Grey's Anatomy? I think? I haven't had time for TV lately. I haven't even watched the news the last few days!

4. Without looking, guess what time it is:
Um, 1:15?

5. Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?
1:12! Hey, I'm pretty good at this game! :)

6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
People walking up and down the stairs, occasional throat clearing, the turnstiles downstairs, but luckily no annoying conversations! Ahh! Quiet library! :)

7. When did you last step outside? What were you doing?
I was going to the library. I actually didn't take the tunnel, even though it's a little cold. It takes longer, and I'm lazy. :) I was coming from the Hark, where I'd stopped in to see my buddy at the Coop, but she wasn't there... :(

8. Before you started this survey, what did you look at?
Obviously, Em's blog. :) I'm trying to avoid my brief.

9. What are you wearing?
The black shirt my mom gave me over an orange boy's tshirt from Old Navy, jeans, a pair of knee-high socks, and tennis shoes.

10. Did you dream last night?
Always. I don't remember my dream last night, but this morning while I was snoozing I dreamed that Bryan and I were knackered because we had a baby. So we were snoozing.

11. When did you last laugh?
About twenty minutes ago, talking with Meg about a judge she met in NYC. And getting the mental picture again... :)

12. What is on the walls of the room you are in?
A bunch of Latin. Don't ask me what it says. Ask my hubby. And big windows.

13. Seen anything weird lately?
Ummm... the only thing that's coming to mind, especially as I look out the window, is lake effect snow. We're in freaking Cambridge, MA, people. It should be called ocean effect snow.

14. What do you think of this quiz?
It's more interesting than ones that ask, "Vanilla or chocolate?" (This is Emily's answer but I'm stealing it!)

15. What is the last film you saw?
I think it was "Hi fidelity"

In the theatre?
Oh, that was Harry Potter. Whichever one was the last one...

16. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?
Emily's first answer is good - law school education. And I'd buy Bryan a new car. And then I'd probably get some other stuff, but I don't want to commit to anything just yet... :) If I win the lottery I don't want people bringing up this blog post. :)

17. Tell me something about you that I don't know.
I suppose this answer depends on who "I" is. That's the lawyerly answer. :)

18. If you could change one thing about the world, what would you do?
I'd make people more aware of each other, in a global sense.

19. Do you like to dance?
Heck yeah! But I can't really right now because (a) Bryan's not a dancer (at least in public!) and (b) my back is still hurt. :( But I danced all the time in high school (between cheerleading, monthly dances, swing, etc), and a bit in college.

20. George Bush:
This is not a question.

21. Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?
That's the current debate right now. I like Ella and Rachel, Bryan for some reason is sold on Allison.

22. Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?
Bryce David. And the second one will be Seth Andrew. Let's hope that we get a boy first. :) Less conflict there! :)

23. Would you ever consider living abroad?
Have, and would again. Absolutely.

24. What do you want God to say to you when you reach the pearly gates?
Well done, good and faithful servant. (Again, stealing Em's answer)

25. 4 people who must also do this quiz in THEIR journal:
Well, no one really reads this regularly I think... except Emily who's already done this, and MARY! MARY must do it! :)

I took some pain meds. I'm falling asleep. In 30 minutes I have a class about finance.

I need to get some caffeine. seriously.

Surprise!

My sister screamed and cried when we showed up at the house on Thursday night. She had no clue we were coming. It was great! She looked beautiful at the wedding; I can't believe she's married. It's weird. I don't know, it's almost like we're somehow less connected now, since we're both on different paths. I know that's not true, we've always been and always will be close, but I do feel like I'm missing some part of her. I guess I just have to embrace her season like I'm embracing mine. I was really glad to be there, though. It was totally worth all the crap to get there, and all the crap coming home.

In other news, I have an interview with another T-town firm. I'm really excited. I think I'll be flying out this week. So I'll be (sort of) home twice in two weeks! :)

Well, I have crim reading I haven't done. I finished Friday's reading last night. Fun. :)

How I feel about where I am

My feelings about being at Harvard vary every day - and here's pretty much how they go:
  • Sometimes I feel shocked, and a little bit confused, like "How in the world did I end up here?"
  • Then I start to feel a bit more confident, and start to take it for granted, like it's just another school.
  • Then something happens like just now - I look out the window and I see the bright orangey late afternoon sun making Langdell glow, with the words "HARVARD LAW SCHOOL" emblazoned in golden light, and I just think wow. And just appreciate it.
