I'm sorry, but it just doesn't get much cuter than this!

Seriously, I hope our kid is half as cute a human as this one is a cat!! Love that little Nino!

EEK!

I know I must feel like this every semester, but EEK! How in the heck am I going to get all of this work done? How am I going to finish a 3L paper that is (1) required for graduation; (2) really intricate; and (3) currently only 2 pages long, where said paper must be (1) 30+ pages long and (2) finished by January because my supervising prof is going on sabbatical in Europe? How am I going to study for classes which I either have missed half of due to sleepiness/laziness/sickness (read: first trimester of pregnancy!!) or don't care about?

I'm really scared about this semester. I hope I can have the energy to do all of this.

Good things

OK, so in spite of my negativity as of late, some great things have happened this week.

First of all, I have to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the most wonderful man I know. I am so happy to be your wife, honored to be your friend, and excited to be the mother of your child!! I love you!

Secondly, good news: I am officially employed (starting Sept 2008)! I accepted the offer at the Boston firm yesterday, so we're officially staying here. It was a really agonizing decision, and I was honestly really upset at first, but we're both really excited now. It's going to be great staying in a city we know and love, surrounded by such an amazing community. J&B have been very understanding about the whole situation, and we all freely admit that we have no idea what God has for us in the next few years. We're glad that they've got other people coming to Portland to support them, and of course we'll still be supportive from the east coast!

Finally, as a sort of birthday present for the soon-to-be daddy in our little family, we got to hear the baby's heartbeat today. It was amazing! At first we weren't sure the doctor was going to be able to find it, but a few tense moments in and there was the woosh-woosh-woosh! What a beautiful sound! :)

And for our birthdays, my friend M got us our first item of baby clothing: a sweet little white sleeper. So adorable. I still can't believe there is going to be a person in our house that small very soon. But instead of being overwhelmed and scared, like I thought I might be, I was pretty excited. :) And so was Bryan. We can't wait!

The glass is half empty today

So it turns out a week full of studying (often the wrong things for) Securities Regulation in preparation for being on panel, preparing for the MPRE, taking the MPRE, and trying to edit a 40,000-word journal article, all while being constantly nauseated and exhausted and hormonal & irritated is not the most fun thing in the world.

And even better news: I didn't get the job I flew out to interview for over flyout week. This puts serious questions in our heads about whether we're moving to Portland at all.

UGH. Back to work I guess.

Big news!!

OK, so we've known for a month or so now, but we waited a bit... just in case... but now I can happily announce that

We're Pregnant!!

And we're absolutely over the moon. Baby will be here in early June, right around graduation.

There's so much more to tell, but I just had to get it out there for the world to know. More later.
